PCT Applications

The Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) is an international patent law treaty, which provides a unified procedure for filing patent applications to protect inventions in each of its contracting states. A patent application filed under the PCT, which is well known as international patent application or PCT application. The Patent Cooperation Treaty is an agreement for international cooperation in the field of patents, which is the most significant advancement in international cooperation in this field since the adoption of the Paris Convention itself. However, it is largely a treaty for rationalization and cooperation with regard to the filing, searching and examination of patent applications and the dissemination of the technical information contained therein. Normally, A PCT application is filed at any point in time up to 12 months from the initial. After the initial application at a period of 18 months, the PCT application is published. It is used at 20 months after the initial filing date, the applicant must have entered the national phase of the application process in the designated states or lose his right to file claiming the earlier priority date. However, this period could be extended by a further 10 months if the applicant requested preliminary report. The examination gives an inventor non-binding opinion and a preliminary on the patentability of the claimed invention.
